Dear Member of Congress,

I am writing to urge your support for genuine peace and development efforts in Afghanistan.

After almost ten years of military intervention in Afghanistan, U.S. policies have done little to address serious concerns about poverty and impoverishment nor has it brought stability. In fact, peace in Afghanistan remains elusive as casualties continue to mount on all sides of the conflict.

Additionally, U.S. efforts to “win the hearts and minds” of the Afghan people through militarized aid efforts have proven to be ineffective, waste of taxpayer dollars and an infringement of humanitarian space for independent humanitarian workers.

I urge you to support efforts that genuinely work to meet the needs of the Afghan people through programs that are impartial and independent of strategic military and political considerations.
