Email your members of Congress to let them know that you support the health and well-being of incarcerated people. Background: COVID-19 has exacerbated the vulnerabilities of certain populations, including people who are incarcerated. Social distancing and hand washing are difficult to implement in jail or prison, as cells are often crowded and soap must be purchased as a commissary item. Many people cannot afford soap or medical care while incarcerated.
Halt deportations and welcome asylum seekers
Background: By warning citizens against traveling anywhere in the world, the United States acknowledges the life-threatening risk of transmission or infection of COVID-19. Despite these warnings, however, the U.S. continues to deport individuals to Honduras and Guatemala.
Lift sanctions on countries facing the coronovirus pandemic
Sanctions restrict the flow of medical supplies and items essential to treating the sick and preventing the spread of COVID-19. Urge your members of Congress to lift sanctions that negatively impact civilians and impair governments’ abilities to respond to this global health crisis.
