In a recent statement, Mennonite Central Committee U.S. addressed the events that took place in Charlottesville, VA. on Saturday, August 12. Andrew Wright, of the MCC Central States region, composed the statement with the consultation of other staff and board members.
“Mennonite Central Committee is a worldwide ministry of Anabaptist churches that shares God’s love for all in the name of Christ…”
Mennonite Central Committee rejects racism, white supremacy and all other acts of violence toward people of color. We will continue to work toward peace in the U.S. by making efforts to dismantle the Doctrine of Discovery, confront racial disparities in the criminal justice system, resist harmful immigration policies and deepen the work of anti-oppression among our staff, board and constituencies.
