USCIS releases new process for Deferred Action

Today, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) released the application process for deferred action for DREAMers. USCIS will begin taking applications tomorrow for “Consideration of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.”

There is no deadline to apply for deferred action. If you think you may qualify for deferred action, the FAQs and forms to apply can be found at www.uscis.gov/childhoodarrivals. You may also find our updated resource page useful.

Deferred action does not offer a pathway to citizenship or legal status, unlike what is proposed in legislation like the DREAM Act. In order for the DREAM Act or an equivalent to pass, we need action from Congress.

Please be sure to read this Warning on People Advertising Assistance if you are seeking to apply.

If you are part of a church or non-profit organization and want information on how to get involved in this process, we welcome you to join us for the upcoming Interfaith Immigration call/webinar this Thursday at 3:30 pm EST. Click here for more info.
