At first glance, the Hellenistic culture and religiosity that Paul confronted is a far cry from my own standing point. On closer examination, however, I am left to wonder if he might say something similar if he found himself in present-day Ottawa, or any other city in North America. What are the “objects of our worship” that would stand out? Where are our most prominent altars? What serves as the most compelling rituals of worship in our culture?
