Indeed, the amount of money the United States spends on its “security” is staggering. Currently the United States spends more on its military than nearly all other nations of the world combined. The base budget for the Pentagon exceeds half a trillion dollars, and the number soars well above $700 billion when the cost of the wars is added in…
Yet the budget that Congress finally passed for Fiscal Year 11 increased military spending over last year’s level. The same budget included deep cuts to public housing, housing for low-income seniors and persons with disabilities, and job training.
