The Mennonite churches support the call of the Peace Movement for a new strategy to combat drug trafficking and crime; a different approach that would work to eliminate corruption and impunity, and that would address the social issues at the root of the conflict.
The stance of the Spanish-speaking Mexican Mennonite Churches arises from a historic peace church perspective. They point out that it is the will of God that shalom reigns over the earth. This shalom is not merely the absence of conflict, but the result of right human and social relationships governed by love, justice, respect for life, integrity and human diversity, solidarity and tolerance.
